Sella Hearth

For some years now, the Group has created an internal digital community to give space and voice to the volunteer initiatives attended by colleagues in their spare time. Each colleague can share the initiatives organized by the local realities with which they collaborate, proactively involving the whole community. In this context, initiatives such as the “Sella Cuore expedition in aid of Ukrainian refugees,” a solidarity trip made in 2022 by colleagues who, on board two vans, collected from the whole Group and delivered basic necessities to some family homes managed by the Quadrifoglio Project in Romania on the border with Ukraine.

Donate your vote

On the occasion of World Volunteer Day (December 5), the Sella Group organized for the second year in a row the “Donate Your Vote” initiative in order to actively support social realities in which colleagues are actively engaged and that are part of the Sella Cuore community. Colleagues share on the Group intranet about a project of the reality in which they are volunteers, and all colleagues of the Group were asked to choose through a vote three realities to support. Humanitarian Emergency in Ukraine

As the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine persisted, the Group's initiatives to support the local population continued. In particular, in 2024 the Group supported the Rosa Pristina Foundation with two new donations. The first one of 20.000 euros to support emergency care activities for the children of the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kiev, hard hit in the Russian attack on July 8: in particular, the donated contribution supported medical and material assistance to the civilian population, urgent transfer of the young patients to other facilities, purchase of essential medical equipment and psychological support for the children, their families and health personnel. The second donation of 25.000 euros supported ordinary medical and material assistance activities to the civilian population.

In support of culture

Enhancement of artistic and cultural heritage

The Artistic Direction of Banca Patrimoni Sella & C., established in 2017 as an expression of Sella Group's strong will and commitment to the protection and enhancement of artistic and cultural heritage, carries out a careful work of promoting and spreading culture through the universal language of art. An open dialogue that creates connections: between public and private, national and international realities, between even unusual spaces and places, between generations. An activity dedicated and intended for people that aims to make cultural heritage usable and accessible. In this role as promoter of culture, the Art Direction is also an active part, with its wide range of Art Advisory services, in all those wealth management projects that have an artistic component and are oriented towards the preservation, protection and enhancement of art.
The 2024 programming has combined the artistic vocation of the Direction with an active social commitment through initiatives that have involved different communities on the territory: from hospital realities to schools, from businesses to prestigious cultural realities, from the Sella group's internal population to the participants and visitors of the many proposed activities.

A total of one hundred colleagues and family members participated and it was a unique opportunity to discover the deep bond that the bank has built with the city of Biella since 1886 turning into a mutual exchange of growth.

In support of health

Sella SGR's investment fund, established in 2020 with the aim of combining finance and scientific research, has supported the Umberto Veronesi Foundation in 2024 through an annual contribution of 0.3 percent of total assets.

Contribution to hybrid operating room and other technology projects at Biella Hospital

The Group contributed with a donation of 75.000 euros to the “Amici dell'Ospedale di Biella” Association for the new hybrid operating room at the Ospedale degli Infermi. This project aims to further upgrade the city hospital's operating block. The operating room concentrates multiple high-tech components that enable different surgical techniques and the collaboration of multiple specialists at the same time. In addition, donated funds have also been earmarked to finance the maintenance within the hospital of a surgical robot remotely controlled by a surgeon and capable of performing complex abdominal surgeries.

A special initiative in India: Eureka Model School

Following the terrible tsunami that devastated several coastal areas of India, Indonesia and other states bordering the Bay of Bengal on December 26, 2004, our Group launched a fundraiser to support the affected areas. Since the contributions raised internationally were able to meet the basic needs of the local population, it was decided to invest the amount raised in the education of the youngest children. Thus it was that in 2006 in Walodai, in the Koovathur area (Kanchipuram district), thanks to the collaboration with AID INDIA, a local non-profit organization registered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to which the Group relied for a professional and competent reference on the spot, Eureka Model School was founded.
The children who attend Eureka School belong to poor families in which both parents tend to be day laborers. In most cases these children are first-generation students. The parents, although also illiterate, aspire to the best education for their children, hoping that the next generation can at least break out of the cycle of poverty. They pay a token fee for their children's education in the Eureka School, and the rest of the support is raised in the form of donations. Over the years, the school has positively impacted the lives of about 800 children (including 221 enrolled this year).
Eureka School offers children an ambitious educational model by showing them that they can reach their full potential, regardless of their social or economic background. Teachers not only help children develop their academic skills, but also work hard to build their confidence in order to make them aware that they can achieve any goal and result. Lessons are taught in English and are organized to be interactive and engaging. They are also complemented by extracurricular activities, workshops and learning experiences outside the school walls to make the learning experience complete (as examples: soccer and juggling training for children, technical workshop and using apps to learn math and English, field trips and competitions). The teaching team also has a strong focus on results and devotes much time and individual attention to children who need additional support in basic skills.

Since its founding, the Sella group has actively participated in fundraising to finance the school's activities both through the long-distance adoption of the educational path by various colleagues and through the charitable sale of local Indian products at company Christmas dinners. This has allowed Eureka to expand its initiatives from time to time: workshops, trips, sports, cultural and exchange programs with other schools.
In those first 19 years, the school's classrooms were a more than adequate space to accommodate students' classes, but-as a result of the Right to Education Act-the government of Tamil Nadu introduced new regulations for school buildings. According to these new regulations, each classroom must be built of a cement construction (with an RCC roof), have a minimum floor area and a veranda with specific dimensions to be met. As a result of these requirements, the Group decided to make a total donation of 59,000 euros between 2023 and 2024 for the construction of three new classrooms, currently under construction, in line with the necessary structural standards set by the Indian government and a playground.
Since 2023, an internal fundraiser reserved for Group colleagues has been organized during the Christmas season to fund, in particular, the schooling and education of children attending the school. In addition, thanks to the efforts of Centrico India, a Group company operating in Chennai, since 2022 the Spark Scholarship Program has been active - carried out in collaboration with AID India - through which each year two student are supported who, at the conclusion of 5 years of primary school, decide to continue their studies. In fact, the path of education in India includes 5 classes of primary school and a subsequent period of study from class 6 to 12 at the end of which the university entrance exam is provided.
A total of €63,000 was donated to the school in 2024.

Time Bank and Volunteer Permission

In 2024, the possibility was reconfirmed for Group colleagues to take advantage of the time bank, a fund supported by the voluntary donation of vacation time by colleagues that can be drawn on by other colleagues who are in need and no longer have vacation time available. In addition, the number of paid hours available to colleagues to carry out volunteer work for organizations and associations was doubled-from 7 to 15.

Promotion of a more sustainable lifestyle

The promotion of a more sustainable lifestyle is one of the themes that has been the main focus of colleague engagement and awareness-raising activities with the aim of emphasizing the importance of increasingly aligning daily living behavior with the needs of the environmental context in which we live.
In 2024, there was a strong focus on raising awareness in the area of sustainable mobility through targeted communications and initiatives such as the launch of a carpooling app for all colleagues, the implementation of a bike sharing project, and the replacement of all bike racks. In addition, as a Group, we chose to join Green Food Week, a week to raise awareness of food choices, and M'Illumino di meno, National Day for Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles, with ad hoc initiatives carried out in concert with these nationwide occasions for reflection. Ad hoc communications for colleagues continued on the occasion of the anniversary of various World Days (World Water Day, Recycling Day, etc.), which are opportunities to provide specific thematic content and to give colleagues practical advice that they can put into practice in their daily lives. During 2024, a campaign to raise colleagues' awareness of energy conservation in their workplaces also continued.
