Banca Sella, the board of directors appoints Giovanni Petrella as new chairman

Maurizio Sella has decided to step down for health reasons

Press release

Maurizio Sella has decided to step down as chairman of Banca Sella, considering the progressive deterioration of his health. He will remain a member of the Board of Directors, continuing to contribute his experience and vision to the governance and sustainable, structural growth of the bank and the Sella group.

The Board of Directors of Banca Sella, having taken note of his decision, has appointed Giovanni Petrella, currently president of the parent company Banca Sella Holding and Dean of the Faculty of Banking, Finance and Insurance Sciences at Milan’s Cattolica University, as the new president.

Last April, Maurizio Sella, now 83, with his forward-looking spirit and with the entrepreneurial tradition of his family, which has always prioritized the interests of the company and its ability to innovate and grow in a solid manner, decided that the time was right to facilitate his succession as chairman of the parent company, a role he has held since 2000.

At Banca Sella, Maurizio Sella served as CEO and general manager from 1974 to 2002 and has been chairman since 2000, leading it through a period of momentous growth that gave rise to the current Sella group and laid the solid foundations for its growth and development.
